What a week I've had this week. On Monday evening my humans took me for a drive which was very exciting, although I do admit I found it difficult to remain standing at times when the car went around corners, however, I did enjoy sticking my nose out of the window and trying to bite the air as it went by.
It was not too long however, before we stopped and I was taken out of the car and led into a building that smelled suspiciously like a veterinary surgery. One look through the window and I knew I was in trouble, as I spied some miserable looking dogs sitting with their owners waiting patiently. Not me I thought, there's no way I'm going to just go in there quietly. Sure enough I put up a good fight but in the end I had to give in. Once inside there was a lady behind the desk who was very nice and told me how handsome she thought I was, which comes as no surprise to me really as there could be no other description for me, if I do say so myself. My sense of calm at her kind words soon evaporated however, when a door opened I was summoned inside by the vet. She, the vet seemed surprised to learn that I was only 9 months old, he's still a puppy yet, she commented. Yes, I thought so becareful what you do to me. Then she tried poking around in my ears, well that was just too much, I flung my head as hard as I could from side to side. My two humans and the vet tried their best to hold me still but I was determined to fight my corner as much as I could.
I am pleased to report that despite all three of them trying to hold me still, after about 15 minutes they gave up and let me go, so I felt quite pleased with myself although I was a bit exhausted with all the hullabaloo of throwing my head around and just generally behaving as obstinately as possible.
On the way home I heard my human discussing how awkward I had been which really pleased me, as they both decided that taking me to the vet is not something they want to have to do too much, so I think it was well worth the fight that I put up while there. No, you can stuff the vet as far as I am concerned, I hate being pulled about and that's all they ever seem to do to a dog. It really is too much to have to put up with.
Anyway, that was the issue of my week, I would definitely not call it the highlight but rather a very unpleasant experience. However, once I did get home I had a lovely big dinner of ground beef and biscuits and retired to my bed and had a lovely long sleep after that.
Well I'll be off now but I shall be back to write some more in due course.
